Your questions answered from the CPD Certificate course

Questions raised at the CPD Hub event are answered by Chris Waller from ACT

1. Are we eligible for NUS cards?

I am afraid that you are not in this instance-a great pity I know!!

2. Can we get to see an example of a completed portfolio?

The example on the Plymouth web site does not help that much. I am going to ask the Hub HEI tutor to come along to the next meeting in June to discuss the portfolio in more detail with you.

3. When do we get the bursary and why are there two additional Big Saturdays?

The bursary is paid directly to you from Plymouth University after handing in the portfolio on September 27th 2010. When the course started we agreed two Big Saturdays. We need to have two more to complete the face-to-face teaching. ACT really appreciates the sacrifices you have made at weekends but hopes that the four in total that you have given over will be seen as being very beneficial.

London Citizenship Teaching Network

Result of ACT London Meeting

The London Citizenship Teaching Network is a coalition of teachers, advisors, educationalists and academics with an interest in Citizenship, and aims to support practitioners in taking Citizenship education forward in London.

The teachers came together at ACT's London meeting on 23rd March 2009. At the event, those present decided -

1. the main aims: to share good practice, develop a resource bank, spread the support base, and create a strategy for citizenship in London.

2. how to achieve them: through an online forum, local school linking and through themed termly meetings.

To view the outcome and participate in the coalition email one of ACT's London Regional Subject Advisors, or visit the forum at http://forum.citizenschools.org.uk/viewforum.php?f=6&sid=1a3e5fa47918853c937a69c3eaa5974e
